Orimas Thila is a dive site at Noonu Atoll (Maldives) that features a sheer drop-off, ledges, sandy channels, beautiful reef and abundant marine life. The currents here can get quite strong, so it is important to find a resting spot and hook-in when needed.
When To Go Diving
Divers can dive at Orimas Thila throughout the year except for June, which has rough sea conditions. The best months are December to May, while June through November have lots of rain. The usual temperature of the air is about 30-32C/86-90F, and the water temperature is high, varying around 26-29C/79-84F.
What to see
This dive site’s highlight is a large number of gray reef sharks, which can be over 3m/10ft long. It often happens that divers see around 20 of them at once, circling in search for food or being cleaned by other fish. Some smaller species around Orimas Thila include blue tangs, parrotfish, blennies, frogfish, and angelfish. It is easy to find snapper, grouper, soldierfish, and even eagle rays around here.
