Frequently Asked Questions About Ocean Tribe Fleet

Where are the departure and arrival locations?

Ocean Tribe Fleet operates in Egypt’s Red Sea with smooth hub-to-hub logistics. Most weeklong routes embark and disembark in Hurghada or Port Ghalib, with occasional itineraries beginning or ending in Marsa Alam. You’ll see classic circuits like Hurghada–Hurghada and Port Ghalib–Port Ghalib, plus crossover sailings between Hurghada and Port Ghalib. Specific routings can shift slightly with season and sea state, especially on programs such as North & Wrecks, North & Brothers, BDE (Brothers–Daedalus–Elphinstone), and Deep South & St Johns

Is Nitrox available on the Ocean Tribe Fleet liveaboards, and is it free for certified divers?

Yes. Nitrox is listed as available and free for certified divers across Ocean Tribe Fleet departures (including Ghazala Adventure and Ghazala Explorer), which makes repetitive dive days feel easier, particularly on current-kissed drop-offs and long reef passes

What level of diving experience is required for Ocean Tribe Fleet liveaboard trips?

Northern itineraries such as North & Wrecks and North Including Tiran & Dahab generally suit Open Water divers with about 20 logged dives, favoring mellow contours and relaxed drifts. Programs that reach the offshore plateaus, Brothers, Daedalus, Elphinstone, are best with Advanced Open Water and roughly 20–30 dives, given blue-water ascents and livelier currents. For Deep South routes (St Johns, Zabargad, Rocky), expect recommendations in the 25–50-dive range and comfort with moderate current, rewarding you with sweeping walls, soft-coral gardens, and unhurried blue horizons between splashes

A Safe, Peaceful, and Unique Liveaboard Experience
This was my 13th liveaboard, and I can honestly say it stood out in many ways. Compared to my last trip on the same route back in September 2022 —when Daedalus had 27 boats—this time most dive sites were practically empty. That made a huge difference in the overall experience. One thing I truly appreciated was the fire safety drill. For the first time in all my Egypt liveaboards, we didn’t just get a briefing—we actually tested the escape routes and life jackets. It really highlighted how seriously safety is taken on this boat. The food was also well done: the buffet was not excessive, the portions were just right, and the presentation had a nice, almost esoteric touch. A small drawback is that some facilities are showing their age—for example, the A/C didn’t always work properly. That said, I hear a refurbishment is coming soon. The only real negative for me was that one of the guides seemed overly focused on filming sharks up close. While the footage he shared was impressive, in my own videos he appears in nearly every shot—even though I wasn’t diving in his group. On the positive side, I really valued the option to do unguided dives, which gave a great sense of freedom underwater. Overall, it was a fantastic trip: peaceful dive sites, strong focus on safety, and an experience that felt both professional and unique.
