All about Needles dive site

Needles suggests a dive built around narrow coral pinnacles or spire-like bommies. The site’s likely appeal is vertical shape, fish schooling around the points, and shifting light between coral structures.

What to see

Expect fusiliers, trevally, coral trout, butterflyfish, parrotfish, gorgonian fans, soft corals, and possible reef sharks. Small crevices may hold nudibranchs, shrimps, and crabs.

When To Go Diving

Best conditions are usually during settled dry-season months from June to November. Water temperatures are generally around 24–29°C on Great Barrier Reef sites.
