Lobster Cave
Lobster Cave is a site on the East coast of Mauritius, approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) from the shore. It got its name from the large amounts of lobsters that populate this location. Boat entry starts in 20m/65ft of water and then the site slopes further down just to end at the depth of 25m/30ft. Water visibility is around 25m/30ft. Divers should be ware of occasional strong currents.
When To Go Diving
Although diving this area may be possible year round, during the winter months (June through August) strong winds from Southeast may complicate diving conditions. The high season for traveling hear is considered from September through May, when air temperature varies from 25C to 30C/77-86F.
What to see
Excellent displays of corals outline the cave. Besides the lobsters there is also a wide variety of fish that found home in the Lobster Cave, including white tip reef sharks, king fish, eagle rays, eels, groupers, snapper and a multitude of tropical fish.
