Jardim das Gorgónias is a sea fan-focused site, likely one of the more visually elegant Portuguese reef dives. It has a layered, almost garden-like feel when the gorgonians stand out in clear water.
What to see
Gorgonians, sea fans, wrasse, bream, conger eels, octopus, nudibranchs, sponges, anemones, and small crustaceans may be seen.
When To Go Diving
Best in calm conditions from June to October. Water is generally 15–23°C on mainland sites, while visibility can be very good on offshore reefs.
