Rico's Wall
The site is located on the south-west side of Balicasag Island. It features a beautiful coral garden sitting on a shelf between 7m/23ft and 11m/36ft. At the edge of the coral garden there is a wall that drops down to 35m/115ft. It is advised to begin the dive with the wall being on one's left shoulder to go south or right shoulder to go north. There is a possibility to finish the dive on Rudy's rock or the Cathedral depending on the diver's final point.
When To Go Diving
The best time to go is November through June. The average water temperature varies from 25C/77F to 29C/84F.
What to see
Huge gorgonian sea fans, sponges and crinoids densely decorate the wall. The wall has many reef overhangs, small caverns and ledges teeming with fish like lionfish, soldierfish, squirrelfish, moray eels and batfish. In the coral garden divers can spot nudibranchs, sea stars, hydroids, anemones with clownfish, a rich variety of soft, stony and leathery corals. On the reef edge shoals of fusiliers, schools of silver jacks, big eye trevally, bannerfish, moorish idols, snappers, anthias and chromis can be seen, and more deeper - large groupers, barracuda, Napoleon Wrasse, tuna and the occasional grey or whitetip reef sharks.
