Sombrero Island
The island is really small, and only one side of it has a shore line. The rest are big rocks. This dive site consists of various small caverns, boulders, and a drop-off. It is an excellent dive site for underwater photographers. There are plenty of different coral formations. There are reefs and steep walls, and drift diving can be done here. The average depth is 22m/72ft and the maximum depth is 40m/131ft.
When To Go Diving
Diving is available all year round, but the best time to dive is from November to May. The average air temperature is around 24-33C/75-91F. The water temperature averages 26-30C/78-86F. The water visibility is 10-30m/33-98ft, and March through May have the best visibility.
What to see
Divers can see an unbelievable number of different fish, including pufferfish, surgeonfish, rainbow runners, turtles, rays, jacks, snapper, grouper, triggerfish, and black lionfish.
