Cathedrals, off Lanai, is one of Hawaii’s most famous lava-cavern dives, known for archways, chambers, and beams of light. It has a dramatic, almost architectural quality created by volcanic formations.
What to see
Lava caverns, arches, light beams, reef fish, turtles, moray eels, nudibranchs, shrimps, sponges, and occasional white-tip reef sharks may be seen.
When To Go Diving
Best from May to October, when sea conditions are often calmer. Water is generally around 24–28°C, with visibility commonly 20–30 metres.
