Dema Trader
The DEMA Trader is one of the most massive artificial reefs around Miami. Divers can explore an exciting wreck of the former cargo ship of 165 foot in length while scuba diving in the area. The ship was sunk in 2003 after being caught for carrying drugs, and nowadays it is a real attraction for divers. Some additional weight was added to the remains for the whole structure not to move during storms and be more save for explorers. Diving in DEMA Trader is very interesting as divers can examine even cabins and gallery. Several openings were made to enable the possibility of penetration dives.
When To Go Diving
Florida, USA is a pleasant place to visit during the whole year due to its tropical climate. However, diving in DEMA Trader is preferable during the period from May to October. This is a hot and wet season with air temperatures of 30-32C/86-89F and water averages of 27-29C/80-84F. Usual water and air temperatures during the dry and warm season are of 16-18C/60-64F.
What to see
While diving in DEMA Trader divers can spot such marine species as scorpion fish, parrotfish, jaw fish, barracuda, groupers and snappers camouflaging in the ship remains.
