Abu Kafan is one of Safaga’s most dramatic offshore reefs, with steep walls, plateaus, and deep blue surroundings. It is often treated as an advanced, current-aware dive with strong wide-angle appeal.
What to see
Divers may see drop-offs, gorgonians, soft corals, barracuda, tuna, jacks, reef sharks, turtles, Napoleon wrasse, and dense reef fish.
When To Go Diving
Best in March–May and September–November, with calm seas important because of exposure. Water is generally 22–28°C, and visibility often reaches 20–40 metres.
