Liveaboard diving in
Vrulja
Vrulja is located near Brela, small town on Makarska Riviera. This diving spot is surrounded by steep cliffs that drops into the sea to 100m/328ft. The site features caves, wall, underwater canyon, corals and at a depth of 30m/98ft and 55m/180ft the fresh water from the Cetina River pours into the sea from underwater caves. The consistent pressure of fresh water and strong currents caused the rich underwater life. Divers should be very careful entering the cave as there is turbulence created by the mixing of salt and freshwater sources.
When To Go Diving
Diving is not recommended during winter months due to strong currents. In other months of the year average water temperature is around 18C/64F.
What to see
The sea life is very rich with lots of fish, like big hauls of sea bass, grey mullets, school of hake fishes and numerous colonies of colorful sponges, purple algae, blooming Cnidaria, pink jewels, and yellow sea anemones.
