The Turtle Beach dive site is located off the southwest coast of the island of Thoddoo, Maldives and can be easily found because its location is recognized by a tiny rocky island, which is located quite close to the beach on Thoddoo. For this reason, this dive site is also known by its other name, ‘the rock’. The dive site features a beautiful coral garden that hangs over a spectacular steep wall, which goes down to over 30m/98ft. While exploring this colorful coral garden for hiding little creatures, divers will have a chance to be accompanied by two or three friendly turtles, who are the permanent residents of this site.

When To Go Diving

Diving at this site can be enjoyable all year round because of the warm water temperature, which stays at 26-29C/79-84F throughout the year. However, the best conditions for diving are from December to May, when there are no heavy rains and the sea is calmer.

What to see

At this dive site, divers will see colorful soft and hard corals, a variety of interesting nudibranchs, angelfish, bannerfish, triggerfish, moray eels, stingrays, green turtles, possibly octopi, and sometimes whitetip reef sharks.
