Himandhoo Thila is a channel dive site in Ari Atoll in the Maldives that is popular for its large species and interesting topography. It has some overhangs and a beautiful coral reef full of marine life. The current can get very strong.

When to go

It is possible to dive at Himandhoo Thila year-round, but the period from January to May offers better sea conditions. The season for manta rays starts in December and lasts until April. The average air temperature is 28-30C/82-86F, while the water is around 26-29C/79-84F.

What to see

This dive site serves as home for huge manta rays, gray reef sharks, and barracudas. There are also sweetlips, cartilaginous wimp fish, colorful nudibranchs, sea turtles, and Napoleon wrasses. It is easy to spot parrotfish, trumpetfish, lobsters, and octopi.
