The liveaboard Solomon Master offers divers the opportunity to experience two of the most sought-after dive destinations in the Pacific: the Solomon Islands and Bikini Atoll. This 37-meter Solomon Islands diving yacht is specially designed for up to 16 guests, providing comfortable support for explorations of colorful coral reefs, wrecks from WWII, and swarms of marine life. Each of the eight double-occupancy cabins is fitted out with private en-suite bathrooms, individual climate control, and ample storage for a soothing retreat after dives.

The vessel has been designed with the diver in mind and boasts an expansive dive deck featuring personal setup stations, underbench storage, and specialized rinse tanks for diving and camera gear. A deck bar on the rear platform supports technical, rebreather, and recreational divers alike. For those who want longer bottom times, nitrox is available, enabling deeper explorations of the Solomon Islands' liveaboard routes. Underwater photographers especially appreciate dedicated camera stations with charging points, meaning no snag when gearing up for shoots of marine life and wreck sites.

The communal areas enhance both comfort and social interaction. The indoor dining room serves freshly prepared meals in a casual setting, fostering a relaxed atmosphere for sharing diving stories. A comfortable lounge, equipped with seating and a plasma screen, provides an ideal space to review underwater footage or unwind after a full day. Shaded rest areas and an expansive sundeck allow guests to take in panoramic views of the Solomon Islands and beyond, creating a serene ambiance between dives.

Itineraries include the Solomon Islands, known for vibrant coral gardens and diverse underwater landscapes, and Bikini Atoll, offering a unique combination of wreck dives and pristine marine ecosystems. These routes promise a variety of reefs, walls, and wrecks that cater to divers seeking both historical intrigue and natural beauty.

Added to this are high-powered tenders for easy access to dive sites, laundry services, and attentive crew support. This is where safety and convenience are put into consideration to make the journey unforgettable for divers of all levels.

Nice relaxing dive tripVerified review
Overall a nice trip, but I cannot say that diving was superb. Almost no large pelagic, and the visibility wasn't good at times due to bad weather. On the other hand, the diving was easy, the underwater topography in Russell Islands was stunning, the corals were very healthy, and there were many interesting macro opportunities. The boat was spacious and well designed, with large cabins, large common areas and large dive deck. The food was good, but pretty standard, with only a few variations over the course of 10 days. The crew was very attentive, with increased focus on safety and making guests comfortable. The dive guides were always there when they were needed, but they did not make much effort in trying to find small, hard to see critters and pointing them out to divers.

Worst liveaboard that I have ever been on! I have been on probably about 10 liveaboard trips over the past decade including to Palau (x3), Indonesia, Maldives, Cocos island, Philippines, Galapagos, etc.  Diving with Solomon Master Liveaboards has been the only negative one that I have ever had.  First, the trip was delayed as they did not have their act together to insure that everything was sorted with the port authority.  There was minimal communication about the complication, and I did not find this out until I actually arrived at which time I was informed that departure would be delayed by at least a day.  When you have travelled 30+ hours at enormous cost and have used your limited vacation, this is a huge deal.  They were also going to insist that I share a room with a stranger despite the fact that the boat was not at full capacity.  It seemed like the very least they could do given their mistake, but I had to escalate it to the head office after I was told repeatedly that I would be charged twice as much for this even though that room would have gone empty, and they would not have realized any additional profit.  Second, the dive boat was not up to par with no hot water, only intermittent air conditioning within rooms, and no Wi-Fi services despite the fact that this was advertised.  Third, there were only 2 dive masters.  One of them was having ear problems so actually did not go on several of the dives, and the other had not dove a lot of the dive sites.  I felt like the situation was borderline unsafe.  My list of complaints actually continues but wanted to restrain it to the ones that I found most problematic.  Needless to say, I will avoid Master Liveaboards at all costs in the future!

Frequently Asked Questions

What diving conditions can I expect from the Solomons liveaboard itinerary?
The liveaboard itinerary for the Solomons offers a diverse underwater experience that includes stunning walls, drop-offs, caverns, unspoiled reefs, and WWII wrecks. The diving conditions change according to season, currents, and time of day. Visibility normally ranges between 25-40 meters (85 to 100 feet), but may be less at certain sites due to nutrient-rich waters. The Cruise Director and dive guides will plan all dive profiles, maximum depths, and time limits to ensure safety
What are the certification and experience requirements for the Solomon diving itineraries?
Guests must be aware of the level of their certification and experience to match the diving conditions for the chosen itinerary. Certification cards and a logbook of previous dives must be presented at the time of pre-embarkation and may also be requested on board. Any divers who do not meet these minimum requirements, or whose skills are considered inadequate by the crew, may be excluded from some or all dives purely for safety reason
Are there wreck dives on Solomons liveaboard itineraries?
Yes, many itineraries include wreck dives, especially those in the Florida & Russell Islands, Guadalcanal & Western Province, and the WWII Wreck Weeks itineraries. Most wrecks are within recreational dive depth limits and allow light penetration. Divers interested in wreck penetration must be certified for such activities and understand the associated risks
Does the Solomons liveaboard offer rebreather diving?
It does support rebreather diving within recreational limits on standard itineraries. Extended bottom times can be accommodated if a rebreather buddy is available. If there is no buddy, then dive times will be equivalent to those of the other non-rebreather divers during the trip
Can technical diving be done on Solomons Master itineraries?
Technical diving requires more planning and may not be possible on all itineraries with recreational divers. Some dedicated technical diving trips explore wrecks and other sites beyond the reach of recreational limits. Stage tanks are available for rent, and gases are charged per liter. Guests interested in technical diving should discuss with the reservations team before booking
What is the water temperature in the Solomon Islands, and what exposure suits are recommended?
The water temperatures are from 28° to 30°C (82°F to 85°F) all year round. A 3mm wetsuit will keep most divers warm, while colder divers, or those that get cold after several dives, might consider a 5mm wetsuit, or an additional thermal layer. Rental wetsuits are 3mm full-length. Dive gloves are prohibited
