All about Shark and Ray Alley dive site

Shark and Ray Alley is one of Belize’s most recognisable shallow marine sites, close to Hol Chan Marine Reserve near Ambergris Caye. Its clear, sandy-bottom setting is known for close views of nurse sharks and southern stingrays, especially for snorkellers and beginner divers.

What to see

Nurse sharks and southern stingrays are the headline species, with horse-eye jacks, snappers, grunts, sergeant majors, and other reef fish often present. Nearby reef habitat may include corals, sponges, and seagrass life.

When To Go Diving

It can be visited year-round, with December to May usually giving calmer seas and better visibility. Water is generally around 26–29°C, and the shallow depth keeps conditions warm and bright.
