Secret Bay
The Mainit Muck dive site, also know as Secret Bay, is probably one of the best sites in Anilao for discovering the amazing array of fantastic little creatures that make their home here. At this dive site, divers are likely to forget about the time as they scour small areas on the wall or on the bottom for bizarre and unusual creatures that hide in almost every crevice and hole, or in their sandy burrows on the bottom. With a maximum depth of only 21m/69ft, this dive site starts to surprise divers as soon as 5m/16ft down, which makes it suitable for novice divers. More experienced divers also find this dive site relatively easy, where shallow depths and the absence of strong currents allow them to have longer time on the bottom to take photographs of their discoveries. This is also a great place for night diving.
When To Go Diving
It is possible to dive at this dive site throughout the year, because the sea temperature stays very warm throughout the year, ranging from 25-30C/77-86F.
What to see
Colorful nudibranchs, mantis shrimp, Coleman shrimp, bobbit worms, frogfish, ghost pipefish, seahorses, squid, snake eels, octopi, and some other little creatures are the main stars at this dive site. Small reef fish are also plentiful, but big fish and pelagics are not common here.
