Rio de Janeiro Maru is a large passenger-cargo wreck with graceful lines and a strong sense of scale. It offers atmospheric exploration, with open deck areas, holds, and coral growth creating a classic Truk Lagoon wreck dive.
What to see
Cargo holds, engine-room areas, deck structure, soft corals, sponges, reef fish, lionfish, jacks, barracuda, and schooling fish may be seen.
When To Go Diving
Best dived in calm conditions, often from December to April, though the lagoon is diveable year-round. Water is usually around 27–30°C.
