Scuba diving in Pertamina Pier

Pertamina Pier is one of the best muck dive sites around Alor. The slope that starts right underneath the pier comes out of black sand. Boulders are spread out at the bottom, and the pillars are covered in enormous sea fans and sponges.
When to go
Divers can dive at Pertamina Pier year-round, although the best conditions are from March to November. Divers should avoid diving after it has rained, since the site is very close to a river mouth. The sea water temperature averages 28-30C/82-86F. The air temperatures vary between 28-33C/82-91F.
What to see
Pertamina Pier is famous for its great variety of creatures like nudibranchs, seahorses, Spanish dancers, shrimp, wonderpus octopi, and pegasus sea moths. Bigger species like barracudas, sweetlips, and scorpionfish inhabit the water underneath the pier as well.
