Diving in Xlendi
When to go to Xlendi
A year-round diving is possible in waters of Xlendi. The rainy monsoon season is between October and April.
The high diving season is from May to September. Average air temperature ranges from 13 to 26C/55-78F. Water temperature varies from 15 to 26C/59-78F. The visibility: around 30m/98ft. The currents may vary, but generally stay mild.
What to see
Among marine species divers can spot groupers, barracudas, octopus, bream, amberjacks, cardinal fish, schools of mullet and damselfish.
Scuba diving in Xlendi
Xlendi is a fishing village and the second most popular diving destination on Gozo, situated on its southwest coast. The closest airport is Malta International, from there you got to get to Cirkewwa (28 km) and then by ferry to Gozo Island. Xlendi is characterized by quite steep cliffs on one side and a valley on the other side. Some tourist attractions include the Punic Tombs, Xlendi Tower, Xlendi Bay, and Chapels. Xlendi Bay is a unique place with many caves and diving possibilities. Diving features clearest waters, submerged chimneys, breathtaking drop offs, caves, tunnels and the flourishing marine life.
The worth visiting dive sites are Inland Sea, Blue Hole, Karwela and Comino Land and Xlendi Bay & Tunnel. There is also MV Xlendi Wreck, which reaches 45m/147ft in depth and is recomended for experienced divers only.
