All about Lighthouse Bommie - Ribbon Reefs dive site

Lighthouse Bommie is one of the Ribbon Reefs’ celebrated bommie dives, with a strong reputation for seasonal minke whale encounters in the northern winter. The site combines a compact coral structure with a distinctly remote Ribbon Reef atmosphere.

What to see

Dwarf minke whales may be encountered seasonally, along with reef fish, coral bommies, turtles, reef sharks, soft corals, and macro life. The bommie itself can support excellent fish density.

When To Go Diving

June and July are the key months for dwarf minke whale season in the Ribbon Reefs, while broader conditions are good through much of the dry season. Water is typically in the mid-20s Celsius during winter.
