Halfmoon Bay, near Akumal, has a sheltered Riviera Maya feel, with reef, seagrass influence, and calm coastal scenery. It is better suited to relaxed diving and snorkelling-style observation than high-current reef action.
What to see
Turtles, rays, reef fish, parrotfish, grunts, coral heads, sea fans, sponges, juvenile fish, and seagrass-associated life may be seen.
When To Go Diving
The site is usually best in calm weather, with November to April offering drier conditions. Water is generally 25–29°C, and visibility is strongest when wind and swell are low.
