The Ahrax Point dive site is located on the reef with the same name off the northernmost point of Malta Island. The reef slopes down to a sandy bottom at 20m/66ft, which is covered with areas of sea grass. At a depth of around 11m/36ft, divers will find a large tunnel that will lead them to an inland sea, where they can surface inside a roofless cavern. Divers will see an abundance of bright corals and marine life throughout their dive, and if they are lucky, they will be accompanied by shoals of barracudas.

When To Go Diving

It is possible to dive at this site all year round. However, water temperature during the winter is a bit chilly, around 14-17C/58-63F. From May through November the water temperature ranges from 18C/65F to 25C/77F.

What to see

Divers will enjoy exploring the interesting topography of this site, consisting of a steep slope, large swim-through, and a cavern. Throughout their dives they will see beautiful corals and an abundance of marine life, including tiny chromis fish, cardinalfish, sea urchins and red starfish. They can also encounter numerous barracudas.
