Merkanti Reef

Merkanti Reef is a popular dive site, which is located offshore in St. Julian's Bay in Sliema. The dive site can be reached either from the shore, though, it requires a long swim, or by boat. The site offers an interesting exploration of the shallow reef, covered by Neptune grass and corals. While exploring the many crevices, nooks and crannies on the reef, divers can find a variety of reef residents that will be amazing subjects for underwater photography.
When To Go Diving
Diving Merkanti Reef is possible all year round, however, during the winter, the water temperature is around 15-17C/59-63F, and wearing a wetsuit is recommended. In summer the water temperature ranges between 18C/64 and 26C/79F.
What to see
A variety of marine life, including rockfish, bream, cuttlefish, moray eels and octopus.
