The Double Arch dive site, situated off the north coast of Gozo island, Malta, features very unusual rock formations. In order to see them, divers are required to swim from the shore at shallow depths for about 10-20 minutes, then descend to a reef deeper down. Here they will see two natural arches on top of each other. The first arch starts at a depth of around 20m/66ft and the other one, which is much bigger, goes down to 45m/148ft. Swimming from the shore, divers pass large sea grass areas covered with sea urchins. On the reef divers can see colorful corals, sponges, nudibranchs, octopi, and many interesting fish species. Due to the long surface swim, deep depths and possibly strong currents, divers are required to have AOW certification to dive at this site.

When To Go Diving

It is possible to dive this site all year round, however, water temperature during the winter is a bit cold, around 14-17C/58-63F. From May through November the water temperature ranges from 18C/65F to 26C/77F.

What to see

Swimming through unique rock formations, divers will see beautiful cup corals, sponges, nudibranchs, octopi, cuttlefish and wrasses. At the deeper end divers can see groupers, jacks and barracudas.
