Anchor Bay
The bay is situated on the north-west of the Maltese coast. Diving here is available for divers of all levels of experience. At the inner part of the bay the seabed is made up of small reefs, sand, sea grass, rocks and small boulders.
When To Go Diving
Diving is available year-round. The average air temperature is 10-15C/50-59F in the winter and 21-30C/70-83F in the summer. The average water temperature is about 14-17C/58-63F from December through April and 18-25C/65-77F from May through November.
What to see
Moving to the outer bay on the north side, the boulders dramatically increase in size, creating interesting swim throughs and curious formations. On the south side of the bay, there is a cave in which one can surface and admire the dome shaped ceiling which is rich in red and yellow corals. Anchor Bay is home to many interesting marine creatures, especially octopus, morays, and, if you are lucky, you can see the giant tun shells.
