Coral Cave
Coral Cave is located at Dwejra in close proximity to other great dive sites in Gozo, such as Blue Hole and Coral Garden. It is even possible to visit Coral Cave and then finish the dive either in Blue Hole or in Coral Garden. The dive site offers an interesting exploration of a cavern, which has a large semi-circular opening and a sandy bottom at the depth of approximately 30m/98ft. The walls of the cavern are covered with many types of beautiful corals, hence the name. Divers can easily swim to either side of the cavern or follow its walls around all the way from the bottom to the exit.
When To Go Diving
Diving is possible all year round, however, the best diving conditions are from May to November. August is the hottest month in Gozo when the water temperature can rise to its highest of 26C/79F. The coldest month is January when the water temperature drops down to chilly 14/57F.
What to see
While exploring the walls of the cavern divers can see many types of beautiful corals, colorful firework anemones, tunicates, shrimps, crabs, sea urchins, sea horses and other small reef species. If they are lucky, they can spot bigger fish as well, such as groupers or snappers.
