All about Alcatraz shallow dive site

Alcatraz Shallow offers an easier volcanic reef profile, where lava rock, coral growth, and Atlantic fish life create a bright introduction to Cape Verde diving. The shallow setting makes the site suitable for slower exploration, with enough texture for macro life and fish movement.

What to see

Divers may see parrotfish, damselfish, trumpetfish, wrasse, moray eels, scorpionfish, nudibranchs, sponges, and small crustaceans. Turtles or rays may pass through on calm days.

When To Go Diving

The best months are generally April to November, when visibility and water temperatures are more comfortable. Water is usually around 22–27°C during this stronger period, while visibility often ranges from 15–30 metres.
