West Snake Caye is part of southern Belize’s caye-and-reef environment, where shallow reef, seagrass, and mangrove influence can sit close together. It is best described as a relaxed local reef dive with a natural, less-crowded feel.
What to see
Reef fish, rays, sea fans, sponges, coral heads, snappers, grunts, parrotfish, juvenile fish, and small invertebrates may be seen. Turtles or nurse sharks may appear in nearby channels.
When To Go Diving
December to May usually offers the best sea conditions, while summer brings warmer water and more rain risk. Water is generally around 26–29°C, and visibility varies with wind and tide.
