Tao-tao is best described as a Society Islands reef site with a calm, lagoon-influenced character. It suits relaxed diving over coral heads, sand patches, and clear Polynesian water rather than strong-current pass diving.
What to see
Expect reef fish, butterflyfish, parrotfish, wrasse, surgeonfish, coral heads, anemones, moray eels, and occasional rays over sand.
When To Go Diving
May to October usually brings the clearest conditions, with water around 26–27°C. November to April is warmer, often around 28–29°C, but can bring more rain and softer visibility.
