Sting Ray City takes its name after the frequently seen schools of stingrays around this dive site. This location is perfect for experienced divers, who have completed at least 10 dives before. The currents vary between mild and moderate, while the depth is only around 33ft/10m. Located next to a beautiful reef Sting Ray City has many coral formations, sponges and sea fans, which are full of various tropical fish, eels, nurse sharks resting under coral ledges, parrotfish, porcupinefish, crabs, shrimp and barracudas. The crystal clear waters and sandy bottom allow to admire, feed, pet and interact with magnificent stingrays that await for divers as soon as they step out from the boat.

When To Go Diving

Sting Ray City is a famous Jamaican dive site located close to Montego Bay and offers a great diving throughout the year. Due to the warm water and air temperatures all year long diving is possible even without a wet suite. The air temperature averages around 26C/79F-29C/84F, while water temperature often stays around 28C/82F. While summer months are the warmest, they can also be a part of the hurricane season that affects the clarity of the water. Usually the visibility is pretty good and can reach up to 148ft/45m.
