All about SS Maidan Wreck dive site

SS Maidan is one of Djibouti’s most significant wreck dives, with a deeper, more technical profile and a strong sense of Red Sea maritime history. The wreck sits in warm, blue water where metal structure, coral growth, and fish life create a serious but atmospheric dive for experienced divers.

What to see

Divers may see the wreck structure, coral and sponge growth, schooling fish, jacks, snappers, barracuda, groupers, and reef fish using the wreck as shelter. Larger pelagic species may pass through the surrounding blue, but sightings depend on conditions.

When To Go Diving

The main diving season is generally October to February, especially for liveaboard trips and whale shark activity, while calmer conditions may also occur outside this period. Water is usually around 27–29°C, with visibility ranging from about 10–40 metres depending on plankton and current.
