Punta Venado

Punta Venado is the most southern reef in Playa del Carmenand. It is popular among divers for its beautiful soft and hard corals and sponges. This area, as well as the northern end of Playa del Carmenand, gives divers a chance to see whale sharks and mantas. Punta Venado generally has a moderate to strong current that takes divers past the amazing corals, moray eels, turtles, rays and schools of fish. During the winter season (December-March) there is a good chance to see bull sharks in this area. Average depth of the site is 20m/65ft and maximum depth is 33m/108ft. Visibility is good,10-30m/32-98ft, and currents are medium, 1-2 knots.
