When To Go Diving
The best time to dive Punta de la Mona is from May to October. The water temperature is about
25C/77F in the summer and 15C/59F in the winter. The average air temperature is 12C/54F during the winter months and 29C/84F during the summer months. The visibility is good and the current is low, 1 knot.
What to see
Punta de la Mona is located on the opposite side of La Herradura. It is a beautiful site for scuba diving. The average depth in this area is 9m/29ft. The max depth reaches up to 45m/148ft. The lack of light at these depths means that the rocks have a unique appearance with a greenish hue. Diving at this location visitors can spot pollack, sea bass and moonfish. At the depth of 35m/115ft and deeper divers get a chance to explore one of the few existing yellow coral fields. Diving at this site is possible from shore or by boat. Deep dive and night dive can be done here as well. This dive site is marked for experienced divers only.
