Pintu Kota is a dive site also known as ‘Gate of the city’ located in an hour water trip from Ambon Harbor. The place took its name because of several arches at 17m/56ft which create an impression of large underwater gates with the inside chamber bathing in sunlight. The spot is suitable for muck diving adventures, snorkeling and underwater photography.
When To Go Diving
It is better to dive at Pintu Kota from May throughout September. The average water temperature is 27C/81F. The rainy season starts from October and lasts until April, when the rains are unpredictable and heavy.
What to see
Divers may enjoy swimming with jack fish, trevally, snapper, fussilier, barracuda, sweetlips, grouper, anthias, parrot fish, trigger, puffer, flounders, gobies, moray eels, scorpion, blennies, gorgonians.
