Los Erizos Wrecks
The Harbour Wrecks (also known as the wrecks of Los Erizos) are a wreck park, located in the Harbour of Puerto de Carmen, and consist of 8 old boats that were deliberately sunk more than 20 years ago. Most of them were wooden fishing boats, with the exception of one 50m/164-long wreck of a steel transport vessel that lies at a shallower depth of approximately 12m/39ft and is usually used as a starting point for all the dives. The rest of the wrecks can be found at a depth of more than 30m/98ft, and because of their old age most of them are broken, but not less interesting.
When To Go Diving
Diving at this site is possible throughout the year, but during the winter the water temperature is a bit chilly, 18C/64F. The warmest water temperature is in August, when it rises to 26C/79F.
What to see
While exploring the wrecks, divers can watch for barracudas, rays, tuna, and amber jacks. Shoals of sea bream, sardines and other smaller fish are almost permanently present at this site.
