Bitung is an interesting destination for a tranquil vacation in a calm place. Bitung is a port town, which is hosting either small boats, or large cargo ships and cruise-liners. Travelers will not find the diversity of places of interest to watch, except of a mini-copy of the Eiffel Tower while entering the town and the Trikora Monument. The lovely French tower replica was ordered to be built by a mayor of the town, who used to study in Paris. A striking building, named Trikora, is a huge construction dedicated to the Indonesian’s militarists. However, Bitung’s peculiarity is its magnificent harbors. Beautiful sunsets and sunrises charm everyone, who comes to the town. One of the most popular activities in the destination is diving, especially muck-diving. Bitung with its Lembeh Strait provide great conditions for divers who wait to see unusual and interesting marine creatures. Lots of macro-photographers chose scuba diving in the area to capture the smallest species, which find their nooks and shelters in muck. Diving around Bitung is also represented by several wrecks and coral reef walls. Divers can explore descending slopes, numerous boulders and ledges encrusted with beautiful anemones, coral trees, corals and crinoids. Average depths are 5-30m/16-98ft with gentle currents. Dive sites are accessible by boat and advisable for divers of all levels.

Diving in Bitung is represented by the following dive sites: Angel’s Widow, Hairball, Makawide, Nudi Falls, Nudi Retreat, and Pantai Parigi, which are also famous for muck diving. Night diving is advisable in Police Pier. Some wrecks may be explored in Aer Perang and Mawali Wreck.
