Faial, in the Azores, combines volcanic reefs, clear Atlantic water, and access to offshore seamount-style diving. It has a refined island-dive character, with both coastal and pelagic possibilities.
What to see
Jacks, barracuda, mobula rays in the wider region, blue sharks offshore, groupers, moray eels, wrasse, octopus, anemones, and volcanic reef scenery may be seen.
When To Go Diving
Best from June to October, when sea conditions, water temperature, and visibility are usually strongest. Water is generally around 17–24°C depending on month.
