Wreck

The SS Panay is a warship that sank in March 1942 because it was hit by a Japanese torpedo. The ship lies near Campomanes Bay (also known as Maricalum Bay) in Sipalay, Negros Occidental. Divers still find gas masks and stock rooms while exploring this wreck.

When To Go Diving

The best diving takes place from November until May. Late December to April is the high season. The water temperature is constant throughout the year, at 26-29C/79-84F. June to September is the rainy season.

What to see

The abundant marine life at the dive site includes frogfish, schools of jackfish, turtles, snapper, tuna, octopi, nudibranchs, cuttlefish, mantis shrimp, and ghost pipefish.
