When to go to Margate

The air and water temperatures are higher in Margate from December to March. Their range is approximately 23-26C/73-78F. Most of the rainfall occur in that period as well. The cold season runs from April to November with annual air temperatures of 17-20C/62-68F. Water averages are around 15C/59F. Visibility is about 15m/49f. Currents are moderate.


What to see
During the period from May to July there is a big concentration of sharks and sardines in the area due to their migration. One can usually spot ragged tooth sharks, white tip sharks, Zambezi and hammerhead sharks while diving in Margate. Divers can also encounter dolphins, humpback whales and sardines.

Scuba diving in Margate
