Located on Mauritius south coast, Bel Ombre attracts novice divers with its shallow waters and proximity of sandy beaches and experienced divers with deeper waters further away to the west. Being a nature reserve it remains as one of the most untouched parts of Mauritius. Calm bays are full of colorful reef fish, but deep diving allows to spot larger species like tuna, kingfish, barracudas and even black-tip sharks. Different dive-sites offer different opportunities Tamarin Bay offers pods of dolphins in their natural habitat. St. Jacques is popular for its wall of 25 meters and numerous cliffs, while Flic en Flac cannot be overlooked with its caves, archways and tunnels. Bel Ombre is famous for shipwrecks surrounded by beautiful reefs and abundant sea life. Night dives can make this varied underwater landscape even more adventurous and interesting for experienced divers. There are diving centers in Bel Ombre which are qualified PADI’s and have professional instructors.
