The famous Sardine Reef is located off the northeastern point of the island of Kri, only 10-15 minutes by boat. The submerged reef is about 200m/656ft long and oval-shaped, with the reef top at only 5m/16ft below the sea surface. The reef gently slopes down to 25m/82ft and is covered in colorful soft corals and dotted with large coral bommies, where three different species of seahorses can be found. However, Sardine Reef is famous not only for the beautiful corals but also for the incredible density of fish. The dazzling congregation of fish is probably caused by the current that strikes the reef at this point and splits, flowing in the northern and southern direction along the slopes of the reef and over the top. Divers really feel like they are swimming in an aquarium with lots of small and large fish

When To Go Diving

Sardine Reef offers year-round diving with the water temperature being almost constant throughout the year at 29C/84F

What to see

At Sardine Reef, divers will see an amazing array of fish, including parrotfish, giant trevallies, jacks, huge mackerel, schooling bannerfish, and barracudas. Gray reef sharks, whitetips, blacktips, and wobbegong sharks can also be spotted closer to the sea bottom
