Saba, a premier Caribbean diving destination, is renowned for its underwater wonders, including majestic offshore pinnacles and deep-sea mounts. This 5 square mile area, which is the peak of a dormant volcano, rises impressively 3,000 feet above sea level, surrounded by warm volcanic sands. The island's dramatic and rugged above-water topography is replicated underwater, offering divers breathtaking sites and abundant marine life. The establishment of the Saba Marine Park in 1987 has preserved this underwater paradise. Divers flock here to explore renowned sites like Diamond Rock, Man O’War Shoals, and the visually stunning Third Encounter. Here, one can encounter a diverse array of marine life such as nurse sharks, turtles, and even elusive creatures like seahorses and batfish.

Adding to the allure of liveaboard diving in this region, St. Kitts presents a diverse array of dive sites, ranging from vibrant finger reefs and recent shipwrecks to mesmerizing coral labyrinths. It's a treasure trove for Caribbean diving enthusiasts. Notable dive locations include Monkey Shoals and the Wreck of the River Taw, a site celebrated for its rich coral growth and active marine life, especially during night dives. St. Kitts is also a haven for underwater photography, with opportunities to capture rare marine species like frogfish and seahorses, a testament to the uniqueness of Caribbean marine biodiversity. This destination is a must-visit for anyone passionate about liveaboard diving adventures in the Caribbean

When To Go Diving in Saba, St. Kitts & St. Maarten

Water temperature

The best time to go diving in Saba and St. Kitts is typically during the dry season, which spans from December to April. During these months, you can expect calmer seas, better visibility underwater, and generally more pleasant weather conditions, making it ideal for diving. In Saba, the visibility is often excellent throughout the year, but the dry season provides the most consistent diving conditions. Additionally, this period avoids the hurricane season, which runs from June to November. St. Kitts also offers good diving conditions during the dry season. The waters are usually calmer and clearer, enhancing the diving experience. As with Saba, diving outside of the hurricane season is advisable for safety and comfort. However, diving can still be enjoyable outside these months, but you may encounter more variable weather and sea conditions

Not enough dive sites (Caribbean Explorer II)
The staff and condition of the ship were very nice. I presumed from the island of St. Kitts to the island of St. Maarten that here would be an abundant number of dive sites. Dive sites on 360 degrees of four islands to choose from upon the weather conditions. There was no storms. The weather cooperated very nicely. Unfortunately we did not dive anywhere near or around either St. Maarten or St. Eustatious. This limited us to just two islands. Dove a couple sites multiple times. The boat was nice, staff was nice but the diving fell short of expectations.

We dove multiple times on the same dive site. (Caribbean Explorer II)
The cabins are a bit cramped. The food was well above average. So far it was the best steak served on a liveaboard that I ate. The boat was only half full which made for a better dinning and diving experience. We dove multiple times on the same dive site. The crew was attentive and fun.

Great Experience (Caribbean Explorer II)
It was our first true live aboard trip and it truly surpassed our expectations. The boat was well maintained. Our stateroom had enough room for us both. Bed was comfy and we were surprised by the nightly turn down service. Food was way better than we ever imagined and plentiful. The diving was first class. Many different types of diving with live drops, night dives and a wide variety. A very well run, seamless trip that behind the seams was busy for the staff that went out of their way to ensure our experience was over the top. They were a great team !! We would hands down do this trip again without hesitation !!!!
