LIVEABOARD DIVING IN Zamboanguita
Zamboanguita is a fourth class municipality in the province of Negros Oriental, Philippines. It is about 28km/17mi south from Dumaguete City, where the closest airport is located. Zamboanguita is subdivided into 10 barangays. Every Wednesday in Malatapay there is an open market which attracts a lot of tourists. The market offers fresh seafood, the best service and the best local food. Diving in Zamboanguita is usually done from boats, but there are also plenty of sites that are accessible from shore. Most sites have depth of around 15-20m/49-66ft.
Popular dive sites are Masaplod Sanctuary and sites around Apo Island. Apo Island, that lies nearby offers a great area for scuba diving. This small volcanic island is considered the best of the Visaya’s because of its great corals and various marine life. There are a total of 11 dive-sites around the island, including 2 cliff, 3 steep slopes and 5 coral slopes as well as 1 flat slope dive site. Unique to this island is the opportunity to see sea turtles which are present on nearly all dive sites. Blue-finned lionfish, dragonets, several species of octopus, bobtail squid, snake eels, ghost pipefishes, cockatoo waspfish and sea horses can also be seen there.
