Patch Point is a dive site also known as ‘Prince Heinrichs Patch (PHP)’. The spot is in Weligama Bay south of Sri Lanka. Patch Point is an area with many small rocks that were thrown overboard many years ago by merchant ships, after they were replaced with spices for Europe. Now this dive site is full of diverse marine life.

When To Go Diving

The best time for diving at Patch Point is December through April. The best period to encounter dolphins and sharks is November to mid-April. The average water temperature is the same as the average air temperature, 27C/81F.

What to see

Diving at Patch Point is an opportunity to encounter powder-blue surgeonfish, clown triggerfish, honeycomb moray eels, and stingrays.
