RECOMMENDED AIRPORT

The Bunaken National Marine Park was formally established in 1991 and is among the first of Indonesia's growing systems of marine parks. The park covers a total surface area of 89,065 hectares, 97% of which is sparkling clear warm tropical water. The Bunaken National Marine Park consists of five islands: Bunaken, Manado Tua, Nain, Montehage and Siladen, as well as a part of the North Sulawesi mainland. The closest international airport is Sam Ratulangi International Airport. The biodiversity of this area makes it one of the top places in the world among marine tourists. Bunaken mainly offers wall diving and drift diving, but also features several beautiful coral slopes. The night diving in the park is spectacular. Rare creatures are around every corner, and there's a WW II wreck within a day range. There are 22 official dive sites within the park. With visibility of around 25m/82ft this is one of the most favorite destinations among underwater photographers.
