French Harbour

French Harbor is the second largest and the most bustling community on Roatan, which is a part of the Marine Protected Area. Juan Manuel Galvez International Airport is located in 10 km from it. French Harbor is a popular tourist destination with a large marina, numerous stores, banks, resort communities, a shopping center, and many other venues. The area hosts a private iguana sanctuary with 2,800 iguanas of four different species living on the property with their owner. Coming here scuba divers will have a choice of activities, including walls, chimneys and beautiful coral overhangs. Marine life is very rich and features a collection of hard and soft corals, colorful sponges and a wide variety of sea life. While on a dive visitors will have a chance to see yellowtail snapper, horse-eye jack, groupers, nurse sharks, lobsters, octopus and other creatures. The sites here are suitable for all levels. Among the most popular sites are Mary's Place (a definite must see), Cara a Cara Shark Dive, Blue Channel, Hole in the Wall and others.
