Scuba diving in Hans Schmidt Wreck


This shipwreck lies in the waters off Rovinj. Diving here is available for AOWD divers only. This cargo ship have exploded and sunk after hitting an underwater mine. The 10m/32ft bow lies separately from the rest of the wreckage wich can be found within 10m/32ft distance on the sea floor. This wreck is under the protection of the Croatian Ministry of Culture so diving here is allowed only through diving centers that have permission from the Ministry.
When to go
The best time to dive this dive site is from May to September when the average water temperature ranges from 18C/65F to 25C/77F. The depth of the dive site is around 40 m/131ft.

This wreck can be of a particular historical interest to diving enthusiasts since the ship's ancor is of a special type that hasn't been produced for over hundred years.
