El Cañón, at Socorro, is a seamount-style dive known for sharks, mantas, and open-ocean fish movement. It has a more rugged and advanced character than coastal reef sites.
What to see
Giant oceanic mantas, hammerhead sharks, silky sharks, Galápagos sharks, dolphins, tuna, jacks, and schooling fish may be seen.
When To Go Diving
Best from November to May during the Socorro liveaboard season. Water can be about 21–28°C, with cooler months from January to March.
