RECOMMENDED AIRPORT
Puerto Villamil is a town on Isabela Island, one of the Galápagos Islands. Most of the inhabitants work in agriculture and fishing, but tourism is also growing. It is a nice place to do some snorkeling. Nearby there are some diving spots: Isla Tortuga, Cuatro Hermanos, Roca Viuda, and Union Rock, where an abundance of marine life can be seen: Galápagos grouper, Galápagos sharks, whitetip sharks, hammerheads, stingrays, mantas, seahorses, wrasses, lobsters, sea lions, soldierfish, barracudas, moray eels, and plenty of colorful fish. Roca Viuda is one of the most challenging dives in Galápagos and is only for advanced divers, while Union Rock is good for beginners. Cuatro Hermanos is a spectacular site, where divers are likely to see seahorses, including the giant seahorse, as well as enormous manta rays, octopi, and lobsters. There is an underwater cavern here, where there’s a chance of seeing sharks and rays.
