Sha'ab El Erg is a horseshoe-shaped reef about 7km/4mi in length, located between Hurghada and El Gouna. Diving at this place is a great chance to see dolphins and manta rays. In the center of the horseshoe is a shallow lagoon scattered with ergs, and there is a resident pod of dolphins. Sha’ab El Erg has several different dive spots on all sides. Some of these are Torfa Sha'ab El Erg, Gota Sha’ab el Erg, Poseidon Garden, Lighthouse, and on the north side, the Dolphin House and Manta Point sites. The most popular of these sites is Dolphin House in the north, which is home to a large pod of bottlenose dolphins. Another popular site is Gota Sha’ab el Erg on the southwest point, which teems with marine life. The site is also a very interesting night dive and is frequently used by safari boats as a night dive spot.
